Third grade children at the American School of Doha (ASD), celebrated the opening of their new recreational playground. The play equipment was donated by the ASD Parent Teacher Association (PTA), who are committed to making the students learning environment as comprehensive, fulfilling and fun as possible.
The recreational area has a fun range of climbing play equipment to help promote physical development, motor skills, balance and social skills. The playground will encourage the children to be play actively during their study breaks and will foster a love for outdoor activities.
The PTA comprises a strong team of parent and teacher volunteers supporting the children’s academic and social development aligned to the school curriculum. Through a variety of fund raising activities, and with the help of generous corporate sponsors, the PTA raise funds to support ASD through financial donations, the purchase of equipment and material, and encouraging student led enrichment programs. Commenting at the opening the playground, PTA President, Nikki Routledge said, “The PTA is delighted to have been part of this wonderful play area for our elementary students. It demonstrates our commitment to support our students’ learning through education and play”.
Joining the children and the PTA, were senior members of the ASD Faculty and Administration led by Dr Tom Hawkins, Director of ASD, who commented, “The American School of Doha would like to thank the ASD Parent Teacher Association for their many years of commitment. Financial donations are only a small part of the support provided by the PTA. We acknowledge their amazing events and social support that enhances the quality of life shared by students, faculty and the entire ASD community”.
