High School Nepal Trekking Trip
The International Award Expedition, one of the qualifying activities for students pursuing the International Award
(a division of the Duke of Edinburgh Award) involves students
undertaking an arduous journey to test their physical limits and
character. The Expedition, led by ASD teachers Sarah and Joseph
Barnes, successfully completed a Trek along the Annapurna Circuit.
Prior to the Trek, students worked at a school in Bhaktapur where they
refurbished schoolrooms and spent time teaching students how to play
recorders, using donated instruments that were collected by ASD
students Emma Grewal and Sabrina Rau.
Next year’s International Award Expedition is bound to Tanzania to
attempt a summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Click here to see the promotional trailer for that trip.
